Capturing Soundscapes for Animals on the Move

capturing soundscapes
Our Animals on the Move sound engineers, Francis and Chanida, out recording soundscapes at Sandford fishpass.

The natural world is full of weird and wonderful noises…

As well as enjoying the fantastic visual artworks made by our talented artists, visitors to Animals on the Move can also listen in to some of the incredible sounds made by our migratory animals and the worlds they inhabit.

Our Animals on the Move team have been out recording a sound journey along Sandford fishpass specially for the exhibition.

There will also be recordings of migratory bird song – from twittering swallows to beautiful nightingales – and even toad song! If you’ve no idea what toad song sounds like, come along to Animals on the Move and prepare to be surprised…

Our Animals on the Move artist Julian Smart will be sharing his recordings of our very own Bagley Wood toads, recorded barely a mile away from our exhibition venue.

For the chance to close your eyes and enter the sound-world of our migratory animals, make sure to visit:
